  4. Your American friends are so happy that you're thinking of us. ;-) You people from Canadia are very funny!

  5. Glad to make you laugh guys.

  6. HAHA! TH2, this is....fantastic. Seriously.

Can I start carrying a beaver around?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yes, but be careful, Celestine. Make sure it is properly trained.

  8. Love the attack beaver commercial. Of course we all know that you can place the blame for these Canadian stereotypes on Bob & Doug McKenzie & SCTV being so popular down here.

  9. Al, do you remember this?:

Cooo, loo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo!
Cooo, loo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo!
Take off... to the great White North...

  10. Properly trained to a) only bite my enemies, or b) go in a litter box?

    ReplyDelete
  11. "Properly trained", I assume, would include both provisions - plus others, including fetching sticks, property security, breakfast preparation, grocery shopping, and so forth.

  12. Of course it's funny: this is the same country that gave us The Red Green Show!

"And remember: if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!"

    ReplyDelete
  13. The Red Green Show is shown in the States? I did not know that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow! I didn't know beavers could do all that. Do you think I could train it to read from a teleprompter so it can run for office here in the States?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I am sure they could be trained in textual teleprompter recognition. However, there is the issue of the eligibility of a Canadian-born beaver being able to run for American office. Cannot be done. No worries, however. The "Canadian beaver", Castor canadensis, is found throughout North America.

  16. TH2: as a matter of fact, Red Green is on PBS.

And now for the Man's Prayer:

    I'm a man...
    ...and I can change...
    ...if I have to...
    ...I guess.

  17. The "Man's Prayer" would also apply to this blogger... I guess.

It makes sense that it runs on PBS, as the program was produced (in its later years) by the CBC, our lefto-government broadcaster.

What I find interesting is that the intellectual superforce that is Anita even watches PBS! Are you a left wing secret agent working to undermine Catholic bloggers? I'm keeping my eye on you V-Girl ;)

  18. LOL! I'm married to a French Canadian and I love Canada...uh oddly enough my husband doesn't love Canada. We last visited Quebec two years ago and he made me promise to "never make me come back to this place" I had to talk him into keeping his citizenship recently. Whenever he talks of Canada he gets this pained look on his face and starts muttering things like "Godless damned atheist society..." and "heretic priests" and "apostate bishops..." then it gets ugly. He credits the decline of all of North America to the signing of the Winnipeg statement - which is probably true and he can't stand Molson beer.

Well anyway...did I mention and I love Canada?

  19. Yes, these are classic commercials, Sanctus Belle. Glad you enjoyed them.

Everything you quote your husband as saying about Canada - I agree with completely. I do not blame him for not wanting to come back, for indeed it is, as he says, a "Godless damned atheist society". Though I certainly there wish there more like him up here to help in the fight.

  20. TH@. I'm a big fan of SCTV & The Great White North w/ Bob & Doug. I have Strange Brew on DVD (Great version of Hamlet).

Also occasionally watch Red Green which, as was pointed out is on PBS. Occasionally they have something good on, like Dr. Who.

Also a big fan of Corner Gas. The last beats out about everything on US TV these days (EWTN excepted of course). Hated to see it nd.

  21. Ah yes, SCTV! I almost forgot the late, great John Candy was a Canadian. He was hysterical. One of my favorite movies: Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

  22. Dr. Who - I have fond memories of watching it at 7 pm on Saturday's, after my afternoon hockey games, when a kid... with Tom Baker as "the Doctor". My brother used to tease me about watching the program, which at the time had (as you know) substandard special effects. Didn't bother me, I liked enormously.

We would have totally beat you guys with the Allen\Arnold expedition during the revolution if you hadn't cheated and made it snow all over us.

  24. Patrick: Thanks for the comment. Not many people know, but over the last couple of centuries Canada has developed a secret weather modification technology to almost instantaneously produce copious amounts of snow. For reasons of national security, I cannot provide details. But I can say it involves specially trained albino beavers, back bacon, moose antlers and a hockey puck.

  25. We spent the weekend watching Anne of Green Gables.

Oh well, I'll have to wait to visit Oakville and the Bathtub races...

    Canadians are Second to none.

    ReplyDelete
  26. BTW since Lazlo became a US Citizen, the Canadian 'rub' jokes aren't funny at all.

(I used to make him say "about" and "sorry" every so often. Just because.)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lola: Sanctus Belle's husband (see above) is from Canada as well.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I saw that!

    Canadian's are so wonderful.

Smart American women know a good guy when they see one and then marry them!

My dh was one of the first men I ever met who was Catholic and not Catholic in name only. So something has gone right in the Canadian Faith Department.

BTW, I so enjoyed Quebec City visiting for the World Hockey Championship, I was tempted to ask for a summer home there. That May there was the coldest winter I've experienced in 10 years.

I've seen nothing to compare with St. Anne De Beaupre. Next trip to Quebec will be to see Blessed Andre and St. Joseph's shrine!

God Bless and please keep the smart laughter comming.

  29. You like hockey, Lola? Wow. TH2 has his weekly game later tonight. A good break from things.
