Love the attack beaver commercial. Of course we all know that you can place the blame for these Canadian stereotypes on Bob & Doug McKenzie & SCTV being so popular down here.
"Properly trained", I assume, would include both provisions - plus others, including fetching sticks, property security, breakfast preparation, grocery shopping, and so forth.
I am sure they could be trained in textual teleprompter recognition. However, there is the issue of the eligibility of a Canadian-born beaver being able to run for American office. Cannot be done. No worries, however. The "Canadian beaver", Castor canadensis, is found throughout North America.
The "Man's Prayer" would also apply to this blogger... I guess.
It makes sense that it runs on PBS, as the program was produced (in its later years) by the CBC, our lefto-government broadcaster.
What I find interesting is that the intellectual superforce that is Anita even watches PBS! Are you a left wing secret agent working to undermine Catholic bloggers? I'm keeping my eye on you V-Girl ;)
LOL! I'm married to a French Canadian and I love Canada...uh oddly enough my husband doesn't love Canada. We last visited Quebec two years ago and he made me promise to "never make me come back to this place" I had to talk him into keeping his citizenship recently. Whenever he talks of Canada he gets this pained look on his face and starts muttering things like "Godless damned atheist society..." and "heretic priests" and "apostate bishops..." then it gets ugly. He credits the decline of all of North America to the signing of the Winnipeg statement - which is probably true and he can't stand Molson beer.

Everything you quote your husband as saying about Canada - I agree with completely. I do not blame him for not wanting to come back, for indeed it is, as he says, a "Godless damned atheist society". Though I certainly there wish there more like him up here to help in the fight.
Dr. Who - I have fond memories of watching it at 7 pm on Saturday's, after my afternoon hockey games, when a kid... with Tom Baker as "the Doctor". My brother used to tease me about watching the program, which at the time had (as you know) substandard special effects. Didn't bother me, I liked enormously.

Not many people know, but over the last couple of centuries Canada has developed a secret weather modification technology to almost instantaneously produce copious amounts of snow. For reasons of national security, I cannot provide details. But I can say it involves specially trained albino beavers, back bacon, moose antlers and a hockey puck.

My dh was one of the first men I ever met who was Catholic and not Catholic in name only. So something has gone right in the Canadian Faith Department.
BTW, I so enjoyed Quebec City visiting for the World Hockey Championship, I was tempted to ask for a summer home there. That May there was the coldest winter I've experienced in 10 years.
I've seen nothing to compare with St. Anne De Beaupre. Next trip to Quebec will be to see Blessed Andre and St. Joseph's shrine!

Also a big fan of Corner Gas. The last beats out about everything on US TV these days (EWTN excepted of course). Hated to see it nd.
Ah yes, SCTV! I almost forgot the late, great John Candy was a Canadian. He was hysterical. One of my favorite movies: Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
