Here we will assess alleged / reported apparitions (and associated phenomena) of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary in modern times. The focus will not be on Church–approved apparitions / messages of Our Lady (e.g. Fatima, Akita); nor necessarily on claims made by religious; not on “famous” claims, like Medjugojre (TH2 is very suspicious of this one, too many shenanigans here); neither on the ridiculousness and mockeries of “images” on toast and other food items. Rather, analyses will be conducted on those witness testimonies, videos, photographs and reports/articles of underreported, relatively unknown or forgotten (alleged) occurrences (post–1945) with just that extra amount of evidence to spark interest and, accordingly, warrant further investigation.

A couple of years ago I found Unity Publishing, Rick Sabato's site. http://www.unitypublishing.com/
He helped me so much in seeing the "Medjugojre" issue, and later I found he'd been looking at Legionaires of Christ years BEFORE the stuff hit the fan.
I look forward for your "Blessed Mother" sightings and your comments even about the ones that smatter of nonsense. (This is important. For instance even Our Lady of America has some issues. Most of wich are the ones involved with copyright issues. Obviously she really is "Our Lady of America" if she used one of the US's greatest protections, intellectual Copyright. (Communists and Terrorists, don't give one whit about copyright or trademarks from what I can see...)
Rick Salbato may have good intentions, but he doesn't follow through on his research. He goes by what other people tell him. He reports many false stories that are misleading and damaging to many peoples' faith.
He has reported volumes of lies and disinformation about good people and he will have to answer for it. Do not trust his work as being accurate because it is full of errors.
Anonymous - I am very well aware of Mr. Sabato and his writings and I do agree with you on the disinformation, etc. aspect of things. It was never my intention to use him as a source in this section. If I recall correctly, he has even predicted that the end of the world will occur in the next century and, further, promotes the Millenarianist heresy. So, yes, his hockey stick isn`t touching the ice.
Nevertheless, all the evidence (from objective analyses) tells me that Medjugojre is a big time scam (if that is what you are specifically referring to)- but we will have to wait and see on the Holy See`s imminent pronuncement on this matter.
I am selecting alleged, underreported cases relating to the BVM for this section of the blog (not popular ones). The approach is strictly scientific (as much as possible). Readers will be allowed to discern for themselves. First post will be coming very soon.
Despite Medjugojre being condemned by several Diocesan Bishops, "devout" Catholics still believe in it. Rick believes that Medjugojre is a false apparition because they promote disobedience to the church. Remember that God will never want people to be disobedient to his representatives on Earth.
Both Angels and "Fallen" angles have the same power to perform miracles, healings, and exorcisms. Science can only rule out that a miracle is not a hoax done by man kind. Unfortunately, no matter what level science advances to, they will never be able to distinguish the miracles done by God or by Satan. The only test for private apparitions is the test of "obedience." Only the people of God will listen to the Bishops.
Medjugojre, Garabandal, Bayside, Vassula, Maria Simma and Catalina Rivas are all false apparitions that support each other. For example, Vassula's [false] Jesus will mention that Mary just appeared in Garabandal. Catalina's [false] Jesus will mention that Vassula is a true prophet. Maria Simma will mention in her book that both Medjugojre and Garabandal are true apparitions. Now what do all of these in common? EVERY SINGLE one of them believe that communion in the hand is a mortal sin! What else do all of these have in common? EVERY SINGLE one are disobedient to the Church!
There is one false apparition that no one has written about yet, and that one is of Carmelo Cortez. Carmelo Cortez is a Marian visionary that make religious icons appear on rose petals. The problem that I have with him is that at the end of his rose petal miracle, the "Eucharist" will "grow" out from the white rose. Then he will hand this miracle Eucharist out to everyone nearby including children who are not even old enough to receive communion.
Why do I have a problem with the Eucharist growing out of the rose petal? Remember that according to Canon Law, only the priest can consecrate the Eucharist. Carmelo Cortez is a layman, not a priest. Mary also cannot consecrate the Eucharist either because she is not a priest. (Does this ring a bell with Garabandal?)
Carmelo Cortez has done the rose petal mass at St. Anthony's Church in Los Angeles, California. This was done without the Los Angeles Bishops's approval. Despite decades of trying, the rose petal mass was not approved in Orange County, California either. (This reminds me of Fernando Suarez, another Philipino visionary healer who continues to have healing masses in Catholic Churches all over the world without the permission of the parish or Bishop).
What I noticed is that anyone who supports at least one or more of the false apparitions mentioned above will try to discredit Rick Salbato's work. People who follow false apparitions genuinely believe that since they get their messages directly from heaven, there is no possibililty that they can be wrong. Therefore, anyone who disagrees with them - must be by default - wrong!
They believe that if the Diocesan Bishop rules that the apparition as "not supernatural" then the Bishop must be wrong! If the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith issues a Decree stating that the apparition is not supernatural, then they must be wrong too! The await the day that the Pope himself will announce that the apparition is true. Let me tell you something! In the entire Church's history, this has never happened! In fact, the Pope does not even have an office in the Vatican that investigates private revelations.
To those of you who believe in the idea of "Pan-Religion" or "Indifferentism" which is heavily promoted by Medjugojre, Garabandal, Bayside and also indirectly by Maria Simma... please read what the Vatican has to say about this type of "unity" and salvation. Please go to the Vatican site and look up "MORTALIUM ANIMOS."
The Vatican believes that "the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it... it were foolish and out of place to say that the mystical body is made up of members which are disunited and scattered abroad: whosoever therefore is not united with the body is no member of it, neither is he in communion with Christ its head."
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich wrote “I see many excommunicated ecclesiastics who do not seem to be concerned about it, or even aware of it. Yet, they are excommunicated whenever they cooperate to enterprises, enter into associations, and embrace opinions on which an anathema [excommunication] has been cast. It can be seen thereby that God ratifies the decrees, orders and interdictions issued by the Head of the Church, and that He keeps them in force even though men show no concern for them, reject them, or laugh them to scorn. . . .”
Remember that even though you reject the Decrees, God will still keep them enforced! God gave the Bishops power; what they “bind on earth shall be bound in heaven.” (Matt 16:19)
Jesus said: "None of those who cry out, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of God but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. When that day comes, many will plead with me, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? Have we not exorcised demons by its power? Did we not do many miracles in your name as well?' Then I will declare solemnly to them: 'I never knew you. Out of my sight, you evildoers!'" (Mt 7:15-23).

Never said that I supported those apparitions.
Sabato is what I call a Catholic Millenarianist. He believes in a modified version of the "Rapture" attuned to what he thinks is Catholicism (the "Rapture" is a Protestant invention of recent times). Moreover, he estimates the the world will end near the year 2050. Anyone with such a mindset cannot be trusted and just does more to lead unwitting Catholics astray to being overly preoccupied with all this "end times" heresy. The end will come, to be sure, but only God knows (Matthew 24:36).
